Fourth Suspect Charged in Andrew Burow Murder: The Latest Updates (2026)

A new twist has arisen in the tragic case of Brisbane father Andrew Burow, as authorities have now charged a fourth individual with his alleged murder and torture.

Just hours ago, news broke that a 44-year-old man from Sunshine Coast has become the latest suspect in this harrowing investigation. This individual joins three others who were apprehended earlier, marking a significant development in an already complex case.

So, what lies ahead? The accused is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court next month, where details of the charges will be addressed.

To recap, Andrew Burow, a 56-year-old cybersecurity specialist, vanished on August 20 of last year—just four days after he was last seen at his unit in Brisbane. The investigation took a grim turn in September when human remains unearthed in a shallow grave over 200 kilometers away were confirmed to be those of Mr. Burow.

Previously, three other men—a 38-year-old from Sippy Downs, a 26-year-old from North Lakes, and a 57-year-old from Buderim—faced serious charges in October, including murder, kidnapping, torture, extortion, and misconduct involving a corpse. Now, with the addition of the Lake Macdonald man’s charges, which include torture, deprivation of liberty, and extortion, the case continues to unfold with shocking implications.

Authorities have indicated that the attack on Mr. Burow was premeditated, highlighting that the 26-year-old from North Lakes had prior connections to him. The disappearance of Mr. Burow initiated what police described as a "complex investigation," which spanned eight different crime scenes throughout southeast Queensland.

Among the significant pieces of evidence collected, officers allegedly discovered a phone, zip ties, alcohol wipes, and a note with the addresses of Mr. Burow's parents at a property in Bli Bli, located on the Sunshine Coast. Disturbingly, photographic evidence also surfaced showing Mr. Burow in a severely beaten state.

Reports suggest that Mr. Burow was forcibly taken from his home in Kelvin Grove and transported across various locations over the course of four days, between August 21 and August 25. Tragically, it is believed he was murdered, with his remains discarded beside a road in Maidenwell, situated in the South Burnett region, around August 26.

The Lake Macdonald man is expected to appear in court on February 5, as the investigation continues to seek justice for Mr. Burow and his grieving family. Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have further information pertinent to this case to step forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
