A mother's desperate plea for help has brought attention to a rat infestation crisis that has plagued her home for the second time in a year. Ashley Webb, a 31-year-old cleaner, is terrified for her four-year-old son's safety as these unwelcome visitors continue to invade her space.
But here's where it gets controversial... Ashley claims that despite her initial efforts to report the issue to her housing association, Live West, they seemed to drag their feet, leaving her and her family to cope with the distressing situation.
"I've got pictures of them everywhere - on my appliances, running across my counters, even in my son's toys!" Ashley exclaimed. "And now, they've made their way into my bedroom while I was asleep. It's terrifying!"
Last year, the rodents caused significant damage, prompting the housing association to replace Ashley's entire kitchen and provide temporary accommodation. However, the problem persists, and Ashley believes the issue may stem from overgrown gardens nearby, affecting not just her but also her neighbors.
"It's not right that we have to live like this," Ashley said. "We deserve a safe and clean environment, especially for our children. If the housing association can't resolve this, I don't see how anyone would want to stay here."
Live West, however, maintains that they are taking significant steps to address the situation. James Reseigh, the director of neighborhoods, acknowledged the distress caused and assured that a dedicated team is now assessing the surrounding land to identify and address the root cause of the infestation.
"We understand the urgency and are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents," Reseigh stated. "Our specialists are working diligently to resolve this issue as soon as possible."
