A New Chapter for Enduro Legend: Steve Holcombe's Sherco Adventure
The Enduro World Champion's Bold Move
Nine-time Enduro World Champion, Steve Holcombe, has embarked on an exciting new journey with Sherco Racing. In a move that's sure to turn heads, Holcombe will be racing the EnduroGP and Italian Enduro Championship, showcasing his skills on the powerful SE300 two-stroke in the E3 class. As we step into 2026, this announcement marks a fresh start for the British rider, who is ready to conquer the enduro world once again.
A Blue Revolution
Holcombe's transition to the CH Racing team, the official Sherco squad, brings a wave of change. With a new team, a new bike, and a fresh perspective after a challenging 2025, Holcombe is determined to leave his mark. Signed for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, he's set to compete in the EnduroGP World Championship, Italian enduro Championship, and other prestigious events, including some UK races.
Catching Up with the Champion
We caught up with Holcombe during his journey from Italy to Spain for training. Here's what he had to say about his exciting new chapter:
"It's a new beginning, and I'm thrilled. Having a supportive team and a solid platform was crucial for me, and that's what drew me to the CH Racing Sherco team."
A Focused Agenda
Holcombe's primary focus for 2026 is clear: the Enduro GP and Italian Championship. But he's also eyeing some one-off races, including the Six Days and Le Trefle. With a desire to race more in the UK, Holcombe is leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of enduro excellence.
"The 300 2T has always appealed to me, and Fabrizio's team has an incredible track record. I'm excited to get back into the E3 class and feel the power of a big 2T again."
From Four to Two: A Smooth Transition?
After years on a four-stroke, Holcombe's return to a two-stroke and the steel backbone frame of the Sherco was a natural fit. He praises the torquey feeling and the KYB suspension, which has made the transition smoother than expected. However, he acknowledges that getting fully comfortable with the new rider triangle will take time.
"It's like putting on an old pair of boots, but with a different fit. I'm working on understanding my areas for improvement and will collaborate with the team for some testing."
Overcoming Challenges, Looking Ahead
2025 was a year of reflection for Holcombe, who missed riding and racing due to his knee injury. But he's back and ready to fight. With a strong recovery and a solid fitness base, Holcombe is eager to get his 2026 preparations underway. He's determined to leave his mark on the EnduroGP overall title, taking on the likes of Josep Garcia, Andrea Verona, and Zach Pichon.
"I'm confident in my abilities and the SE300's proven winning record. I can't wait to get started and aim for the top step of the Enduro GP podium."
Kicking Off in Style
Holcombe's first race will be an international event in Sardinia, followed by a return to the UK for the Santon Enduro. He's excited to get back between the tapes and build momentum before the first Italian round in March.
