Tekken 8 Players, Get Ready for Another Quick Downtime! It seems like just yesterday we were talking about the Version 2.09.00 update for Tekken 8, which was meant to pave the way for the exciting Season 3 launch. Well, hold onto your fight sticks, because another patch is already on its way! Bandai Namco has just announced that Version 2.09.01 is scheduled to drop today, and to make it happen, the game's servers will be undergoing maintenance.
When Will the Servers Be Down? Mark your calendars! The server maintenance is slated to kick off tonight, February 16th, starting at 5:30 p.m. PT and is expected to wrap up by 7:30 p.m. PT. During this two-hour window, you won't be able to access any online features. That means no diving into ranked matches, no chilling in lobbies, no checking those leaderboards, and even the in-game store will be temporarily offline.
What's in This New Update? Now, you might be wondering what this new patch will bring to the table. Following up on last week's update, it seems this one is quite focused. Bandai Namco identified a specific issue affecting PlayStation 5 users where the Season 3 Pass couldn't be purchased directly from within the game. Instead, players were seeing a "Content not found" message when trying to access it through the in-game News or TEKKEN SHOP sections. The good news? This patch is here to fix that pesky bug! The Pass can still be purchased directly through the PlayStation Store, but this update aims to smooth out the in-game experience.
But here's where it gets interesting... The Version 2.09.00 update last week was all about adding new content and support for the Season 3 Pass. However, any significant balance adjustments for the characters? Those are being held back until next month, specifically March 16th. That's when the real meat of the Season 3 patch is expected, promising a tune-up for the entire cast.
And this is the part most people miss... While we're talking about Season 3 content, it's worth noting that Kunimitsu won't be arriving with the initial Season 3 launch. She's slated for a late Spring release, acting as the first new DLC character to kick off this round of content. Following her, we can expect Bob in the Summer, Roger Jr. in the Fall, and a fourth, still unannounced fighter sometime in early 2027.
So, while this upcoming patch is a quick fix for a specific PS5 purchasing issue, the major gameplay changes are still on the horizon. What are your thoughts on this staggered release of content and balance updates? Do you prefer getting new features first, or do you wish everything would drop at once?
