Toronto Blue Jays bolster their pitching staff with the acquisition of former Alabama pitcher Chase Lee, who brings valuable Major League experience to the team. Lee, known as 'The Viper', has an impressive record, having made 32 relief appearances with the Detroit Tigers, posting a 4-1 record and a 4.10 earned-run average. His performance caught the attention of the Texas Rangers, who traded him to the Tigers in July 2024, along with pitcher Joseph Montalvo, in exchange for pitcher Andrew Chafin. This marks Lee's second consecutive year being traded, but this time, he joins the Blue Jays with a wealth of experience, having made his MLB debut in April 2025 after a successful season with the Toledo Mud Hens, Detroit's Triple-A affiliate. Lee's journey to the big leagues began at McAdory High School in McCalla, where he pitched on AHSAA playoff teams in his final two seasons. He then joined the Alabama club team, where his talent shone, earning him Rawlings National Club Baseball Association All-American honors and a chance to walk on with the Crimson Tide in 2019. Over the next three seasons with Alabama, Lee dominated, going 9-0 with a 1.87 ERA in 49 relief appearances and striking out 94 batters in 82 innings. The Texas Rangers recognized his potential, drafting him in the sixth round of the 2021 draft.
